In 1945, MÜHLE was founded with the mission of creating the first safety razor that catered to the needs of all users, regardless of gender. The journey began when Otto Johannes Müller returned from the war and started making the first shaving brushes, as well as designing the MÜHLE signet. In 1965, Hans-Jürgen Müller took over a company that had grown to 40 employees and expanded its reach to 36 countries. However, in 1972, under pressure from the German Democratic Republic, the company was expropriated. As a result, MÜHLE became a state-owned enterprise.

The company underwent rebranding in 1987 and only manufactured brushes for the state, leading to Hans-Jürgen Müller becoming a self-employed brush maker. After the reunification, MÜHLE struggled to survive, but eventually managed to win new customers and rehire former employees. By 2006, the brand had expanded its offering to include a full range of wet shaving goods.

For over 75 years, MÜHLE has designed, developed, and manufactured the finest quality shaving products from family-owned premises in historic Saxony, northern Germany. Their razors, brushes, and accessories have garnered a global following among shaving enthusiasts.
